Comment First time viewer. Very, very interesting. I was wondering if you have seen any of the old Poling Brothers selfpropelled barge/tankers. They wre e all built in the late 1920's and are a sight toi see. I last saw the Kristin Poling a few years ago leaving the bay at Ft. Weathedrill. The Kristin Poling could be the ex Captain Sam. This ship was built as the "Poughkeepsie Socony" in 1934 at United Dry Dock in N.Y., was later renamed the "Mobil New York" in 1962 and in 1971 was renamed the "Captain Sam" for Poling Bros. Poling also operated the "Poling Brotherts #7" built as the "Providence Socony" in 1924, later the "Bert Reinauer" in 1956. I haven't seen her in years. Hope you have additional info on these ancient tankers.
