Laying at Moran Towing of New York and New Jersey's yard in Staten Island, NY outboard of the tug James Turecamo.
Built in 2008, by Washburn and Doughty Associates, INC of East Boothbay, ME. for Moran Towing Corportation. She is 121(ft) long, 36(ft) wide with a draft of 18(ft). She is certified ABS A1 Towing Service and AMS, with an international load line, the Linda complies with applicable SOLAS regulations. Fitted with and INTERcon "C" coupler system. She is constructed of ABS Grade A Steel and powered by two EMD 12-645F7B Main Engines for a combined horsepower of 5,100 turning at 900 RPM with Lufkin reverse reduction gears with a nominal gear ratio of 4.5 : 1. She is outfitted with two Rolls Royce new generation five bladed 115 stainless steel propellers. Her electrical service is provided by two John Deere, Tier 2, 1800 RPM units providing 65 KW, Main Generators. She is outfitted with a John Deere, Tier 2, 1800 RPM unit providing 65 KW as an emergency generator. She is also outfitted with a EMI electro-hydraulic steering system, designed to interface with a gyro compass and autopilot. Her deck equipment consists of a Markey CEWP-90, 27 diameter, 40HP, electric capstan on her stern, a Markey CEW-60, 15HP, electric capstan on her bow. She is married to the barge 425' (ft) 118,000 bbl barge Houston. The Linda has a 105,000 gallon fuel capacity, a 2,500 gallon lube oil capacity (main engines) as well as an 850 gallon lube oil capacity (generators). She is capable of carrying 50,000 gallons of ballast water, 18,000 gallons of potable water, and 1,400 gallons of waste oil. She is capable of a speed of about 8 knots, she can accommodate 12 crew members. The Linda Moran is assigned to Moran Towing of New York and New Jersey.
